Chinese Fortune Cookie

Ode To Delicious Chinese Fortune Cookies

Ever since I was a little kid, I have loved Chinese fortune cookies. I think it has as much to do with the associations I have with them as with their actual flavor. I used to love going to the Chinese restaurant with my parents. I loved everything about it. I loved the little ornamental lamps and Buddhist statues around the place, I loved the murals with dragons and warriors on them, but most of all I loved the food. Asian Food

Dining On Asian Food

Asian food is every bit as diverse as it is delicious. I used to think that
I knew Asian foods growing up. You see, we used to go out to Chinese and
practically every weekend. They were a couple Chinese restaurants in the
neighborhood, and they were perfect for us kids. They were greasy,
flavorful, and we got a cookie at the end of every meal. What more could a
child ask for?

Is England And Heaven The Same Place?

I go to England, poor and broke
Ask for dole, see Labour folk
Fill in form and stand around
White man give me twenty pounds
Thank him much and then he say
Come next week and get more pay

You come here, we make you wealthy
Doctor too, make you healthy
Send for friends from Pakistan
Tell them come as quick as can

Plenty of us all on the dole
With motor car and big bank roll
Come with me, we live together
One bad thing, the bloody weather

All get nicely settled down
Find big house in busy town
Fifteen families living up
Twice as many living down
More in gardens live in tents

Soon we send for wife and kids
White man gives me lots more quids
Twelve months later buy a Rolls
Still go Labour draw more doles

White man soon may rebel
lets just see, time will tell
We think it kind of funny
They keep giving lots of money

Some do say, they are berks
We dont mind, we call them jerks
Once a week the mail arrive
The white mans money helps us survive

White man pay for all my bills
Cuz we win, battle of wills
Bless all white man, big and small
For paying tax to keep us all

We think England dam good place
Too dam good for white man race
If them not like coloured man
Plenty room in Pakistan

God bless you all

Jerks!!

The Last Minute Travel Primer

Business executives often travel frequently and are always prepared to leave for far-off destinations on a moment’s notice. They’ve got the program down. Bags are packed in a jiffy and the seasoned traveler leaves home confident that essentials and nice-to-haves are not left behind. Have you ever taken a trip under hasty circumstances, only to find you’ve forgotten half of what you really need? Experience is a great teacher, so check out these tips from the pros and smooth out the wrinkles of last minute travel.

If you’re traveling by car, transportation issues are simplified. Check your oil, water and tires, including your spare. Fill up on your way out of town. If possible, drive at night. There’s less traffic so you’ll encounter fewer traffic problems. If you’re traveling through or to a major metropolitan area, plan your arrival to miss the heavy commute hours. This can save you a few frustrating hours stuck in stalled traffic.

Traveling by air? Last minute travel by air can be costly if you book by conventional methods. If you have even a day or two prior to departure, the very first task on your agenda is a quick and diligent search of your local papers and online resources such as craigslist, auction sites and E-bay.  Google is also worth a shot. Just type, ‘air tickets for sale’ followed by your destination airport. You just may get lucky and find a great deal.

Now to packing: before you start tossing things willy-nilly into your bag, take a few minutes to jot down what you need to do and bring. This little trick may sound silly, but you’ll be surprised to find how helpful it is to organize on paper beforehand. Be sure to include a ‘before leaving’ category with tasks and errands such as stopping your mail and newspaper, returning library books or arranging for pet care. People who frequently make last minute travel trips keep such a list handy at all times. If you have medicines you need every day, get them on your list. Organize your clothing choices so you can mix and match most items. Plan to wear bulky items, such as an overcoat or boots.

Whenever possible, stick with a carryon. You’ll save time and hassles, both at check-in and your destination. Rolling your clothing saves space and reduces wrinkling. Upon arrival, hang dresses, pants and shirts in a steamy bathroom for 20 minutes. You won’t even need to iron.

Travel restrictions on baggage items change so frequently and are quite precise on items like shampoo and lotion. Just one additional ounce of shampoo or the wrong type of container results in confiscation.  Avoid this problem by buying these items when you arrive.

So don’t get in a tizzy over a last minute travel situation. Be thoughtful in your planning and stay organized. The worst case is then having to pay full price on your air ticket!

Is Computer Addiction Affecting Your Life?

Computers and Internet access are cheaper than every before, and that means more and more people can afford to have both in their homes. Computers are great when you work from home, and in fact, you may not be able to do so without one. Not everyone who has a computer needs it for work at home though, and most use it for other things. Many spend hour after hour online, and this can cause a problem with the dynamic of any family. Computer addiction is a very real thing, and it has caused problems in even the strongest of families and relationships.

Computer addiction is something most scoff at, but it can be a very real thing. Some come home from work and barely glance in the direction of their spouse before they log on and check their email. This is something that starts small and can end with one spouse spending all of their free time in front of their computer screen. As you can imagine, this type of computer addiction will leave the other spouse feeling neglected, and may lead to divorce if something does not change.

Adults are not the only ones who can fall into a computer addiction. There are many teens who spend more and more of their time online rather than hanging out with friends, playing sports, and interacting with their families. Some of them play games, but many more of them have a addiction to computer instant messaging, message boards, and sites like MySpace. Not only are they not interacting with real people in real life, they are neglecting homework and forgetting what it is like to be sociable with others that they meet face to face.

If you are spending more time looking at your computer screen than sitting on the couch watching a movie with your spouse or your entire family, you may want to consider that you have a computer addiction. Try coming home from work one day without touching your computer to see how it makes you feel. If you find that you can’t stay away from it, can’t stop thinking about it, or become agitated as if you are missing a huge part of your life, you may want to consider that you have a computer addiction. This is when you might want to take some time to think about what really means the most to you, and then make the changes you need to make. You don’t have to give up surfing online or playing games, but there is always something to be said about moderation and harmony in the home.
